āWoe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!ā
Isaiah 31:2
&
āBeing justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.ā
Romans 3:24ā26
David the shepard, slew Goliath the soldier, though David was young, perhaps less than twenty years of age; Goliath, a hardened warrior from his youth, in complete battle armor, and laden with great weaponry, being more than nine feet in height.
The Holy Bible is a spiritual book, and the words, precepts, doctrines, and stories are written in parabolic language. We read that Christ was crucified in Egypt, whereas it is obvious he was crucified in Israel; the Holy Spirit emphasizing that it is āspiritual Egyptā that is spoken of: the kingdom of darkness without order, a land of scarcity and vanity, of strife and oppression, without love or joy, without peace, or faith in God, but trusting in the brawn of the strength of force, and in the might of military weaponry, and crafty devices as the decider of battles. Yet, the Holy Spirit waxed mightily strong in David, and Goliath the giant was slayed with a sling and a stone, David afterwards running up on him and beheading the giant with his own sword.
Certainly, the biblical event was memorialized, being written into the first book of the prophet Samuel (Chapter 17), and we who read the Words of God, may find that David was a picture of the Lord Jesus, being a great shepard, even saving his sheep from a lion and a bear whom he also slew. Later we learn of David who played music for King Saul (1 Samuel 16:16) before that great one on one encounter with Goliath; David, of all Israel, was chosen as the most cunning musician on the harp, that the sound of his song keep away the evil spirit the Lord sent against Saul for disobeying God in all things he asked him to do, according to all his Word. David continues as a picture of Christ through his exceedingly successful command of the armies of Israel under Saul, and afterward, the Holy Spirit remaining on faithful David; (for David inquired and followed the Lord on all things, following hard after his counsel; always seeking what the will of the Lord God was), afterward, being persecuted of Saul, whereas David being resolute in his continuous resolve to pray and seek counsel of God, was delivered of Saul without insomuch as meeting him in battle; David then becoming king in the year 1007 B.C.
The parallels to Jesus greatly increase in Davidās kingship with the overriding theme that David maintained his humility and lowly meekness unto God. We find that David would only venture out to war after having inquired of God, and without the approval of the Lord, David would not venture forth. The Lord wrought majestically through him again as king; blessing David as a creator of musical instruments, and as the āsweet psalmistā of Israel, who wrote 72 psalms, or spiritual songs praising the Lord with a heart of thanksgiving; songs for the temple with appointed singers and musicians, that the heart of Jerusalem be a joyous, solemn light, pleasing and acceptable unto God.
David trusted not in the strength of the chariot, nor the horse, nor his cunningness in battle, nor did he use existing military resources as an affront to oppress the people he reigned upon, nor as a license to war upon foreign kingdoms without the counsel of God. David knew that it was God and not him, and that the blessing and protection of God was according to the pattern of his Word, and the Spirit of his Word. Wherein, the few times that David departed from the ways of the Lord, God swiftly answered him with rebuke, as in, when he went in to Bathsheeba and had Uriah killed, or when he called for a census of the land, of which the Lord was displeased. So, we find the ascendancy of David as a picture of Jesus, King of kings, lowly of heart and mind, apt to teach the people, and to prove himself as a loving son of God, and we also find the humanity of David, as the Lord shows that God is God, and not David, when David sinned; for the Lord is a jealous God of his own righteousness and holy glory, and he shall in no means justify iniquity.
Even so, David through the span of his life, was justified of God, whom sent his Spirit, Christ, to be the propitiation for the remission of sins of the whole house of God, all of the sons and daughters predestinated to be new creatures in Christ Jesus; faithful citizens of Holy Jerusalem that is from above, Zion, the great and holy city of God, whoās light is Jesus; the Sun of Righteousness. For no person shall trust in the strength of force, or military might, nor crafty device; such things not being able to deliver soul and spirit, though they may make come to pass what would appear as victory in the short-term. For it is through the gracious acknowledgement of God that we know him and are known of him; that we are found acceptable in his sight, walking in holy meekness unto the Truth and Righteousness of God (I say, Word & Spirit; Sun of Righteousness & Almighty God, the Father), that we find his way and we āput onā his life; discarding the garments and vanity of spiritual Egypt; of spiritual Sodom & Gomorrah, whereupon Christ was crucified, and we put on, nay, we hold on to the strength of God as he asks us to do, as Davidās, as Mosesās, and as Elijahās, that we might make peace with God, with all cleverness, yet lowliness of heart and mind, that we not err from, but enter into the path of peace, joy, love, gentle-heartedness, faith, meekness, temperance, and longsuffering. Because Egypt came to nothing, and all the kingdoms of this world, with all their might, and all their intelligence, cannot attain unto the grace of God, whom has set before us a great an effectual door for us, that we be walk away from spiritual poverty and desolate empty heartedness, and into his kingdom of light, wherein there is no thought of gain and advantage; God having set his treasure in us already, his Holy Spirit; Christ Jesus.
Therefore, open the book of the perfect law of liberty, and know God and his ways, as he has written for us to know him; that you may understand what is this blessing of God in you; that you may go forth in the power of the Christ-mind and heart, walking in peace with righteousness, abounding with love and joy, with the power of the spirit of longsuffering, and being fountains of God, and not of ourselves. Jesus, the Lord himself having proven that we can have faith in God and his promises of peace and joy, of love, and eternal life with him because he was crucified and rose triumphant over life and death; openly showing all powers on earth and in heaven, that he is God, and God alone reigns.
Open then the door to your mind and heart
through the reading and doing of the commandments;
that you may walk in the power.
The Lord waits graciously,
knocking on that fleshy door,
that he may enter in and sit with you;
soul and Spirit; you and God in one body.
That your soul may find peace,
and your heart no longer be desolate,
and joy find its way upon your countenance;
according to the pattern of God, in Word and Spirit.
