New Citizens, New Country / #education #parents #teachers #USA

1. Who can understand economic oppression without the benefit of a solid education? Who can know how to see opportunity in the absence of an educational curriculum that shapes a lop-sided professional?  2. How can the quality of education, differing across America, lead to different individual outcomes for people?  3. Is it possible that not all education is of the same quality, leading towards the same purpose, and that their are advantageous gains for students in elite, private schools, as compared to inner city public schools?  4. What are powerful, positive actions that can accelerate the social and economic realities of an American citizenry, wherein all are afforded the finest educational supports needed to fully access the opportunities?  5. How would the raising of outspoken, critically-minded citizens be deemed beneficial to society? 6. Should we not have more citizens in tune, in participation, and in conversation regarding how the country move...

The Power of the Family Dinner Conversation / #theFreedomPapers #education #criticalthinking #family

Knowledge is not simply ā€˜power,ā€™ it is dormant power. Letters can be used to create words to craft ideas and create intellectual discussion, but in and of themselves, they are only letters; instruments to aid us in communication. The application of knowledge, of those letters into choice words creates the ability to exercise power through the construction of ideas that can be communicative. Distilled: Knowledge is dormant power. The application of knowledge is power in action. It is nearly impossible for the American educational system to correct itself from its current trajectory regarding the understanding of the most important twenty first century skills required to shape new generations of Americans in the form and fashion needed. A recurring message demand is that we focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), when in fact we have to get STEEM, in order to exercise the application of that knowledge. The extra ā€˜Eā€™ is entrepreneurship. Moreover, it is ...

#EmpathicCapitalism: A Construct of #Parents & #Educators / #edchat #SocEnt #business

Rome was not built in a day, but it was built with methodical planning over time. The inner cities housing project architecture of the United States though, appear to have been created with no architectural passion. What does the building tell the young child who lives there? What can be done to change this paradigm? These hideous mega apartment constructs seem to be places to pack animals, stacking them ever so high or across large swaths of bleak landscape. One need only to look at Americaā€™s urban city centers to see the teeming mass of people stocked into the prison-like blocks to recognize how our humanity has staggered in its progress. The eloquence of city politicians who pledge to fight for the voiceless begins to sound grating under the decades of nothing happening to change these hellish residences. It is quite obvious that a great concentration of black people on or near the poverty line and largely dependent on welfare live in these. As I think back to when th...

The 21st Century Intellectual Laborer / #education #TeamUSA #civicduty #entrepreneurship #publicschools @BetsyDeVos

Thinking outside the box   is a term widely-used to describe the action of bringing in new thinking to solve a present challenge. It involves mental flexibility to shift between mental models, or perspectives, allowing one or a whole team to ā€˜seeā€™ different possible routes to problem-solving through to task completion. In this manner, the individual or team allows themselves the liberty to ā€˜step outside the boxā€™ of established patterns of problem-solving and bring in a strategy, methods and momentum to break through for the ā€˜win.ā€™   In the case of our public school systems, it has been found that a great many of them across the United States of America struggle to create students who are ready to be part of the twenty first century work force. Many grow up without a concrete vision of what they can become, who they can be or how far they can go. Without a strong vision and belief that they are capable in reaching great peaks, complacency enters their minds and hea...

What makes #Galileo #HotterThanFireForOthers? / What makes #Galileo #HotterThanFireForOthers? / #positivedisruption #entrepreneur #science #engineering #technology

Coach Galileo Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) was a Dad, a scientist, an engineer, an entrepreneur, coach of the community and the founder of modern astronomy. In Galileo's time, captains of ships had begun to adventure forth in exploration of the entire Earth and the first settlement in America was established (May 1607) by the Virginia Company of London as 'Jamestown.' As a Dad, he was especially loved by his children who were very close to him throughout his life. His son Vicenzo acted as a scribe in his blind fathers old age and his two daughters were devoted to him. It was Galileo who  established the application of the refracting telescope as a means to confirm that, indeed, Earth and the local planets revolved around the sun. His study of comets, the moons of Jupiter, the phases of Venus and the establishment of 'longitude' as a concrete understanding made verifiable by the invention of his new product, a military compass. Virginia, one of Dad's p...

Let it Be, Let it get STEAMiE! / #science, #tech, #engineering #math #entrepreneurism #leadwithgiants

Developing oneā€™s executive function skills, those prefrontal cortex abilities which include the ability to modulate behavior, control our emotionsā€¦our impulsesā€¦ with focus and sustained attention, these are best put to use when the mind is engaged with the heart. Aligning these two is no easy accomplishment. It takes experience, soul-searching, time, knowing who you are, what makes you tick and a penchant for wanting to be understanding of one self and others.  Many of us simply are not trained in school to think along these patterns. Curriculums move quickly on their own time tables and agendas. Tests have to be studied for, homework has to be completed, common core milestones have to be reached. This leaves little to know time for the rise of the entrepreneurial spirit. This spirit is a set of mindsetsā€¦ perspectives which drive one like a framework of outlooks by which adventures are dreamt, charted and strived for. The traditional school movement uses such cornerstone...

Algorithmic Patterns Learned While #Surfing / #coaching #ASD #parents #athletics #science

A surfer lets go of the need to control outcomes in the water knowing that he is in something bigger than himself. All he can do is ride his board as gracefully as possible. With some experience he situates himself at the right spot at the right time, and have the ride of his life. Analyzing wave patterns and their timing, riptide channels, sea floor contour and how the wind interacts with the wave, an experienced surfer takes it all in and moves in sync with all the patterns. Suddenly, the surfer and the water are one, and not two separate entities, yet still retaining their original nature. Two, yet one. The natural algorithmic practice of positioning oneself in tune with breaking waves is a practice of letting go and letting that which is natural physically and mentally move us. Repetition of such a lifestyle activity does go deep into the grain of one and changes you from the inside out. Outside the water, our brilliant minds make connections left and right. This generaliz...
