The Power of Discussion & the Written Word / #Democracy #PeoplePower #HaitianRevolution #AmericanRevolution #humanrights #FormsOfProduction #theFreedomPapers

How important is the presence and absence of (1) open discussion of ideas to humanity,   and how pivotal is the presence and absence of (2) the written word, and the (3) ability to physically (digitally) distribute such ideas to impact local, national, and global events? On page 88, of ā€˜Silencing the Past: Power and the Production of History (1995),ā€™ Michel-Rolph Trouillot, paraphrases, Louis Sala-Molins ā€œclaimā€ ā€˜that slavery was the ultimate test of the Enlightenment.ā€™ Whereas Trouillot goes one step further and sais that ā€œthe Haitian Revolution was the ultimate test to the universalist pretensions of both the French and American revolutions. And they both failed. In 1791, there is no public debate on the record, in France, in England, or in the United states on the right of black slaves to achieve self-determination, and the right to do so by way of armed resistance.ā€ In such a manner does Michel-Rolph Trouillot place before the reader the possibility that the American Revo...

The Power of the Family Dinner Conversation / #theFreedomPapers #education #criticalthinking #family

Knowledge is not simply ā€˜power,ā€™ it is dormant power. Letters can be used to create words to craft ideas and create intellectual discussion, but in and of themselves, they are only letters; instruments to aid us in communication. The application of knowledge, of those letters into choice words creates the ability to exercise power through the construction of ideas that can be communicative. Distilled: Knowledge is dormant power. The application of knowledge is power in action. It is nearly impossible for the American educational system to correct itself from its current trajectory regarding the understanding of the most important twenty first century skills required to shape new generations of Americans in the form and fashion needed. A recurring message demand is that we focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), when in fact we have to get STEEM, in order to exercise the application of that knowledge. The extra ā€˜Eā€™ is entrepreneurship. Moreover, it is ...

Releasing the Negative Anchors / #theFreedomPapers #education

Understandably, every individual will have different view points on local, national, and global issues. In the United States of America, differences found therein between those affiliated with the Democratic and Republican political parties can and are addressed cordially in the forum of our U.S. Congress. Through measures of time speaking allotments given to congressional house representatives and senators, we afford space to each other to broach the pressing topics of the day. Our congressional leaders sit and listen to one another following parameters of conversation that follow prescribes rules of engagement. These leaders discuss how to move forward on a variety of issues, and ultimately write bills, or law-binding legislation which shapes the governmental process and affects the entire population of the country. What kind of educational priorities are required to shape and create courteous, public orators who can think critically, be mindful of how they say what they sa...

When Will America Get A Chance To Be America? / #politicalscience #theFreedomEssays #USA

Idealism is nice, yet idealism that is too far removed from the realities of a present situation risks becoming nothing more than air castles in the sky. Finding common ground in a political maelstrom that is all too often directed by characters behind the scenes likewise risks becoming a futile exercise in impractical idealism. The truth of the matter may be that it behooves lobbying groups to seek the welfare of their deep-pocketed patrons to focus on the protection of their interests, even if it entails a narrow-minded scope of what is best for the operation of a country. In such a climate of lobbying groups, each representative of associations of corporations from singular industries, our elected officials are presented with the viability of receiving funding for their political campaigns to stay in office and therein perhaps achieve modest gains not just for their political patrons, but ideally, for the betterment of the country, if not there own political party, at the least...

The Ethics Of Planned Parenthood's Litmus Test Chokehold on Elected Officials #humanrights

Is it fair and legal that a corporate entity can receive five hundred and fifty millions dollars per year from the federal government, and then use a portion of this money to lobby it in maintaining its funding and legal support, even securing the office of elected officials? Does this monetary relationship create a conflict of interest between the U.S. federal government and a private, for-profit, corporate entity? If it be so, is it legal and fair a private company receive such incredible levels of funding and legal support by the U.S. government?  Is it ethical that the money given to the company by the government is used to fund political campaigns of elected officials? A key rallying point for this private corporation is focused on defending what it calls one of the most serious women rights issues that could exist: reproductive rights. These hold the notion that it is a womanā€™s right to have say over her body, and that this takes precedent over that righ...

"The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power-" Ephesians KJV 1:18-19 updated 5/25/17 9:08 am When I story dance, I do so purposefully. I do so meditatively. I enter not into thoughts of self-observation, but with a readiness to connect movement, heart, spirit and mind all in one motion. At times, I close and open my eyes with a focus on my spatial surroundings.  With eyes open I see the dance with eyes closed I become the dance With eyes open I see you seeing me With eyes closed I just am The dancing started at an early age. Growing up in Puerto Rico, it was almost a prerequisite to move to music. Music and dance is a cornerstone of culture on the island. I would listen to the salsa and merengue on the ra...
