How we educate ourselves and each new generation has a direct effect on our valuing of human life and also how we make decisions in our daily life that impact self and community. It becomes imperative to the health of any community to shape hearts and minds to be free to form their own opinions and outlooks, and to give them the necessary tools and wherewithal to resist those who seek to take advantage of them as they come to greater awareness. It is imperative for the health of a people and for the strength of the family, that the eyes of our hearts be about how to be unique and original community innovators. Time is of the essence then to teach in the matters of critical thinking, of political science, and of financial literacy, of emotional intelligence, and of essay writing, of social entrepreneurship and of volunteering. To value the teaching of playing music and creating art, to integrate a physical education in our grade schools that breaks from only the doing of sports, and into a hybrid curriculum that teaches about the health benefits of different kinds of food, that addresses mental/ emotional regulation mindfulness, and a physical development that is both serious in its focus, and engaging.
At every step of the way, exists the possibility that we not see what we should teach.
Citizens that are methodical listeners and observers, naturally practice a more patient, emotion-free mindset that is ready to learn again and again. The teaching to favor the valuing of critical thinking, an intellectual perspective and process initially generated through listening and observation, develops analytical wherewithal, and contributes to the development of self and community with an intellectual gentleness that affects the character of a person and impacts the social environment around one. After such an introduction, the sharing of the ideas and conclusions through written and spoken word allows for others to try on and prove such ideas, and finally, such understandings, can change hearts and minds, bring clarity to them, and ultimately, in the best of cases, serve towards the defense of freedom and liberty, as well as the benign growth of a new cultural mindset that changes people from the inside out.
It is then crucial that we:
- value the creation and defense of critical thinkers
- support teaching that clearly states that political science (the listening, observation, analysis of how peoples, communities, and governments interrelate) is a pivotal and valuable practice towards the safeguarding of a constitutional republic of and for the people
- that the practice of such an intellectual set of exercises directly defend constitutional freedoms and liberties of a people
- practice and carry out an educational curricula that connects the function of learning with the actual care taking and regulation of the human body’s energy (because we are at our best when we exercise, eat right, and are able to balance our lives between recreation, leisure, and deep focus
The understanding of how important the cultivation of such minds and bodies is as a spring of water in a dry and thirsty land for the people of a land that is oftentimes undervalued, disregarded, or kept away from most through the disparity of educational standards due to ignorance. It so is then that we default into a set of unconscious attitudinal agreements with self, largely constructed unconsciously according to our educational and economic reality, and this becomes a repeating loop that boxes us in to a happenstance that separates us from achieving greater excellence in our lives and more magnanimous contributions to self, and to the local, national, and global community. To this extent, the onus is on parents, Educators, school administrators, and every citizen to exemplify actively caring for self and others. The practice of caring places one as a willing and able ready power source. Being taught from an early age how to strengthen and regulate our mind and bodies creates the proper scaffolding necessary to move with consistency and not falter for too long in our daily process, even making holistic, critical thinking citizen coaches out of each of us, replete with compasses set onto strengthening individuals, and creating a new American ecosystem of love.
